Series A - Dated 26.8.52 Signatures - Joseph Brennan & J J McElligott Number - 30E549643 Featuring the iconic portrait of Hazel, Lady Lavery painted by her husband Sir John Lavery. River gods are traditionally associated with trade and commerce which is why they were chosen to embellish the reverse of the Lady Lavery series of banknotes. The original stone carvings of the River Gods are over the various entrances to the Customs House in Dublin. The River God depicted on the £1.00 note is that of the River Lee in Cork.
